Three more trade unions have successfully submitted proposals to win funding, advice and training from the TUC's International Development Learning Fund (IDLF). The ALT, TSSA and the GMB's London and South East Region are now beginning projects that will end in the development of credible proposals to either DFID's Development Awareness Fund (DAF) or its Civil Society Challenge Fund (CSCF).

Today (Tuesday) as the latest figures for the Workers Registration Scheme (WRS) are published, an alliance of employers, unions and migrant groups has called for the Scheme to be scrapped.
TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber has protested to the South Korean Ambassador about the arrest of migrant workers leaders Torna Limbu and Abudus Sabur on 2 May. Past leaders of the union have been singled out for deportation as soon as they have taken up their posts in clear violation of ILO standards.
The findings that the crime rate of migrant workers is much like the rest of the UK population should help tackle some of the prejudice and urban myths surrounding migrants. It certainly chimes with union experience.
